Krokenskogen Kanvas kindergarten was established in 1998 and has three departments that work closely together to promote a good environment for the children. The kindergarten emphasizes building friendships across departments, which contributes to an inclusive community. The staff group is stable and committed, with high competence, and focuses on play as an important part of the children's everyday life. Children's participation is central, and they are given the opportunity to influence the themes and projects that are addressed in the kindergarten.
The kindergarten is located near Bugårdsparken, which provides access to nice hiking areas and opportunities for outdoor activities. Krokenskogen Kanvas kindergarten is part of Kanvas, Norway's largest non-profit kindergarten foundation, which aims to improve children's upbringing conditions and parents' everyday lives. Kanvas emphasizes equality, diversity and tolerance, and ensures that at least half of the employees have kindergarten teacher training, and that all employees receive regular professional development.
