Planetstien - Mars in Sandnes is a park that offers a unique experience of the solar system on a scale of 1:1 billion. The trail gives visitors the opportunity to walk or cycle a route that illustrates the distances between the planets, where 1 meter on the trail corresponds to 1 million kilometers in space. For example, Mercury is 59.9 meters from the sun, which provides a concrete understanding of the distances in our solar system.
The park is part of Sandvedparken, which has a total length of 3.5 kilometers of trails. In addition to the Planetstien, visitors can enjoy facilities such as a sand volleyball court, playground and picnic areas.
