Planetstien - Merkur in Sandnes is a unique park that offers an interactive experience of the solar system on a scale of 1:1 billion. The path is designed to illustrate the distances between the planets, where 1 meter on the path corresponds to 1 million kilometers in space. Mercury, the closest planet to the sun, is located 59.9 meters from the sunspot in the park. This gives visitors a visual understanding of the enormous distances in our solar system.
The park is also part of Sandvedparken, which has a total length of 3.5 km of paths, and is suitable for both walking and cycling. In addition to Planetstien - Merkur, the area offers facilities such as a sand volleyball court, playground and picnic areas. Visitors can also explore Skeianetunet, which contains listed buildings, and take a walk around Stokkalandsvatnet, which provides a varied experience of nature and culture.
