The Correctional Service Region Southwest has its headquarters in Sandnes and is part of the Norwegian Correctional Service. The office is responsible for various services related to the execution of sentences, rehabilitation and the return of prisoners to society. Among the most important tasks are to facilitate daily routines, as well as offering health services and program activities that support the restorative process.
Furthermore, they also handle visits, letters and telephone calls for prisoners, as well as facilitating leave. There is also a focus on substance abuse control and substance abuse treatment units, which are important elements in rehabilitation. The Correctional Service Region Southwest works with transfers to other prisons in Norway and has contact officers who follow up on prisoners in their process towards parole. Religion and spiritual guidance are also part of the services provided to prisoners.
