Sandnes Turlag is a local association under the Stavanger Tourist Association, founded in June 2013. The organization aims to facilitate good nature experiences and offers a varied selection of hiking trails in Sandnes. With approximately 5,165 members as of January 1, 2020, all members of the tourist association with an address in Sandnes are automatically part of the hiking team.
The hiking team arranges a number of organized hikes and activities for different age groups, including Sunday hikes and the "10 på topp" program. There are also specific offers such as the Children's Hiking Team and the Turvennprosjektet, which collaborates with the Refugee Unit in Sandnes Municipality. In addition, Sandnes Turlag runs volunteer work on hiking trails in the Gramstad area and is responsible for family events such as Kom Deg Ut Day and an international family day. Volunteering is a central part of the organization, and involvement from the local community is encouraged.
