The Salvation Army has been a part of Norwegian society since 1888 and offers a range of services with a focus on caring for the whole person. The organization is known for its motto "soup, soap and salvation" and works to help people in various life situations. They have activities aimed at children, young people, the elderly and people in vulnerable situations, as well as specific offers within substance abuse care and assistance work.
In addition to the social services, the Salvation Army runs a national telephone service for people over 60, which provides support and assistance to the elderly. Through Fretex Jobb, they work with work integration for people who need help entering the workforce. Volunteers play an important role in the organization, especially during holidays, where they help provide assistance to those in need. For music enthusiasts, the Salvation Army also has 19 brass bands spread across the country.
