Løvenskiold Fossum has a long history that dates back to 1539, when the area was first established as Fossum Jernverk by King Christian III. After the closure of the ironworks in 1867, the business has evolved to focus on forestry and wood processing. Today, Løvenskiold Fossum manages an area of 330,000 acres, making them a significant player in forestry.
In 1908, Løvenskiold Fossum started its own power production, which has contributed to the sustainable operation of the business. The main farm, which was built between 1739 and 1867, is still owned by the Løvenskiold family and today functions as a private home. This provides a historical context for the company's current activities and management of natural resources.
