The Kielland Center on Sølvberget is part of Stavanger's library offering and focuses on literature and culture. The center is named after Alexander L. Kielland, one of the city's most famous authors, and his life and work are an important part of the center's profile. It houses exhibitions, author offices, study spaces and a book collection, as well as a café with its own stage, all located on the 4th floor.
The center offers a number of services, including a feminist reading circle and the opportunity for class visits. Various activities are also organized, such as Klassikerlørdag, which promotes interest in literature and debate. The Kielland Center collaborates with local libraries to strengthen the literature offering in the region, and serves as a meeting place for those interested in literature.
