The Salvation Army Stavanger Church and Welfare Center has been part of the local community since 1888, offering a diverse range of services aimed at children, young people, the elderly and people in vulnerable situations. The congregation is part of the international Salvation Army, which operates in 130 countries. In addition to traditional church services, they offer activities such as a band and choir for both children and adults, as well as breakfast meetings and senior gatherings for socializing.
The welfare center has active diaconal work, including a treatment center for substance abuse care with a focus on life change. The Salvation Army also runs a Fretex store that promotes recycling and sustainability. Camps and activities are arranged for children and families, and there is a large offer for youth, including social gatherings and Bible studies. The Sunday services serve as a focal point for the congregation, where members gather to share fellowship and gain inspiration for everyday life.
