Alternative to Violence Stavanger is a treatment and expertise center that focuses on violence in close relationships. The center was established in 1987 and was the first treatment facility of its kind in Europe. The organization offers treatment to both perpetrators and victims of violence, regardless of gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, religion and functional ability.
The center's goal is to help perpetrators of violence become safe and caring partners and parents, while supporting victims of violence in their process towards living a life without violence and its aftereffects. Alternative to Violence Stavanger also functions as a professional premise provider in the field of family violence, and contributes to increased competence and awareness of the problem.
