The Student Association of Stavanger (SiS) is an independent organization that offers a wide range of services for students in Stavanger and Sandnes. Nearly 13,000 students from the University of Stavanger, three university colleges and two vocational schools are affiliated with SiS. The organization is student-run, and aims to improve students' study time through various offers and activities.
SiS organizes student events and training classes, and also offers an app called Min SiS for easy access to information. In addition, they collect offers and discounts for students, and encourage participation in student organizations. The organization has 62 employees who work to provide services such as cafes, housing, sports centers and psychosocial health services. SiS also contributes with dental support and welfare funds to student organizations, with several million kroner invested annually in these measures.
