The Training Office for Lofoten and Vesterålen is a multidisciplinary training office that offers support to apprenticeship companies and apprentices. The office aims to ensure a safe and good apprenticeship towards a vocational certificate, and assists with recruitment, follow-up and documentation for apprentices in several industries, including fisheries, health, construction, industrial engineering, tourism, office and media.
The Training Office for Northern Nordland (OKNN) was established in 1991 and functions as a service office for over 100 member companies. With four employees distributed across branch offices in Sortland and Svolvær, OKNN handles applications, approval and follow-up of apprentices. The office is dependent on the apprenticeship subsidy from Nordland County for its operations, and the allocation of the funds is decided by the general meeting of OKNN. Skilled training consultants work to enhance the apprentices' potential.
