Svolvær Red Cross Search & Rescue Corps is a voluntary organization that offers various services within the areas of aid corps, visiting service, upbringing and multiculturalism. The organization has approximately 40 volunteers who contribute their time and expertise to humanitarian work, especially in areas such as landslides and demanding terrain. This enables them to handle situations that require specialized knowledge and experience.
The visiting service of Svolvær Red Cross includes joint activities at nursing homes and bus trips for the elderly, which helps to promote social cohesion and activity among the elderly in the local community. In addition, the organization has established a refugee guide scheme since autumn 2015, which aims to support refugees in their integration and adaptation to Norwegian society. With the opportunity to become a member, individuals can also influence the work of the local association and contribute to the development of the services offered.
