The Street Lawyer in Tromsø is a non-profit association that offers legal services in Northern Norway. The association has its own board and holds an annual meeting as its supreme body. Since its inception in 2008, Gatejuristen has assisted approximately 1,900 clients with more than 8,000 cases. The services include legal advice and case management, and the association has both permanent lawyers and volunteer students who contribute to the work.
The association has an outreach case reception that covers several cities in the region, which makes it easier for residents to access legal help. The Street Lawyer receives financial support from the Ministry of Justice and local authorities, which helps to maintain operations. In addition, the association is registered as a grassroots recipient, which provides the opportunity for support through grassroots participation.
