The Centre for Peace Studies is a university-based peace research centre established in 2002. The centre aims to promote research and education in the field of peace and conflict transformation. It offers a Master's programme in Peace and Conflict Transformation (MPCT) in English, which attracts students from all over the world. The interdisciplinary approach includes perspectives from different disciplines, which provides a broader understanding of peace-related topics.
The research at the centre focuses on critical peace studies, peace mediation and disarmament. The Centre for Peace Studies actively collaborates with other Nordic peace research centres, which contributes to an international environment and exchange of knowledge. In addition to academic activities, there is an active social life in Tromsø, which gives students the opportunity to engage in the local community.
