The Tromsø Group of the NRRL, founded in 1939, is a non-profit organization with approximately 85 members. The group, which operates under the radio call sign LA3T, has a fully equipped amateur radio facility and is located at the top of Tromsø. The organization is part of the rescue service in the area, and has a special focus on emergency preparedness and communication.
The group has regular meeting days every Tuesday at 7 pm and Saturday at 2 pm, as well as theme meetings on selected Tuesdays. In addition, monthly meetings for the communications service, exercises and courses are arranged, including emergency network courses. There is also an emphasis on youth activities, such as radio direction finding and social gatherings. Annual events such as the autumn party and Christmas party contribute to the community within the group. The Tromsø Group of the NRRL is also involved in projects related to amateur radio technology and equipment.
