Queen Maud's Memorial Kindergarten was established in the fall of 1982 and has since been an important part of the kindergarten program in Trondheim. The kindergarten was completely renovated in 2005 and is located in scenic surroundings at the College of Kindergarten Teacher Education. It has a large outdoor playground that gives children the opportunity to play and explore outdoors.
The kindergarten emphasizes creating an atmosphere characterized by kindness, warmth, friendliness and care. The adults in the kindergarten serve as a safe base for the children, who are encouraged to participate in play and interaction to develop their resources. Queen Maud's Memorial Kindergarten has been environmentally certified with the Green Flag since 2004 and participates annually in projects for recertification. In 2012, the kindergarten was awarded the Green Barnebys Environmental Prize for its commitment to environmental work.
