The Institute of Economics is a research institute that is part of the Faculty of Economics at NTNU. The institute offers bachelor's and master's programs in economics, and has approximately 700 students, of which 10-15 are PhD students. Its location on the Elgeseter campus gives students access to an academic environment with a focus on economics.
The institute has a strong focus on research and innovation, and engages in top-notch research and maintains expert lists. In addition, the Institute of Economics organizes departmental seminars that contribute to the professional development of both students and staff. Study guidance is also offered to support students in their academic journey.
