The Archives Centre in Trondheim is an institution that houses several important archive and library services. The centre includes the State Archives in Trondheim, the NTNU University Library – Dorabiblioteket, the Trondheim City Archives, and the Intermunicipal Archives Trøndelag (IKA). Altogether, the centre offers extensive archive material of 100,000 shelf metres, which includes state, municipal and private archives from Central and Northern Norway.
The building is constructed with solid concrete walls of Dora, which provides safe storage of the archives. In addition to the archives, a reading room for research and study is available, which gives users the opportunity to access and work with the archive material. The Archives Centre's mission is to preserve and make historical material available to the general public.
