Intermunicipal Archive Trøndelag IKS is a public agency whose main task is to provide advice on archive creation and preservation. The archive functions as a digital repository for archival material, and has developed a number of resources to communicate archive holdings to the public, including through exhibitions and articles. An important offer is the research cell, which gives visitors the opportunity to work with archival material on site.
In addition to advice and dissemination, the archive arranges courses on paper archives and collaborates with local municipalities to develop guides for document capture. Intermunicipal Archive Trøndelag IKS also prepares preservation and development plans for the archive sector, which contributes to better management of archival resources in the region. It is worth noting that the archive is closed in weeks 28, 29 and 30 during the summer months.
