The Norwegian Institute of Public Health in Trondheim is part of the national health service and is responsible for a number of tasks related to public health. The institute works with infection control, as well as mental and physical health, and has specialized in areas such as environmental medicine and epidemiology. Through research on drugs, they contribute to increased knowledge and understanding of health challenges in the population.
The institute conducts the National Public Health Survey, which provides insight into the state of health in Norway. In addition, they offer advice and have hotlines for health, as well as perform laboratory analyses and statistics. They prepare guides, handbooks and reports, including status reports on covid-19 and influenza. The institute also organizes courses and other events with a focus on public health.
