Trondhjem sanitation association was founded on 10 November 1896 and at the start had 200 members from various social classes and political parties. The association's first chairman, Elisabeth Wexelsen Jahn, was strongly involved in the work, which contributed to the association's development and activities. The organization focuses on women's health and works to create safe local communities.
The association offers a number of activities, including singing choirs and knitting courses, and actively participates in voluntary work for socially beneficial purposes. It also has specific programs such as "Motherhood: Mother in a new country" and the language friend initiative SESAM, which promotes language learning and integration. Trondhjem sanitation association is also involved in advent calendar projects to collect funds for various purposes.
