The Department of Mental Health is part of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU). The department focuses on research and education within mental health and related areas, with particular emphasis on mental disorders, substance abuse, rehabilitation and developmental disorders. Through its work, the department contributes to increased understanding of mental health at various levels, both regionally and globally.
The main activities of the department include professional education in social care, as well as contributions to professional education in medicine. In addition, master's and further education courses are offered, as well as independent courses at doctoral level. The department collaborates closely with St. Olav's Hospital to integrate research and education, and works to improve treatment and health services within mental health.
