The Fridheim foundation has a long history that stretches back to 1872, when it was established as an orphanage under the name "Børnehjemmet for Trondhjem og Strinden". The foundation's aim is to increase the quality of life for disabled and disadvantaged children and young people. Over the years, it has been run with private funds and gifts, which has been crucial for its continued operation and support for the target group.
The foundation distributes funds annually on 1 April, and the application deadline for receiving support is 1 March each year. In addition to its important role in society, the property of the foundation has a historical background, as it was seized by the Germans during the Second World War. The steering committee of Stiftelsen Fridheim consists of both men and women, which reflects a diversity in management.
