The West Norwegian Academy of Culture (VKA) is located in Vossevangen and has as its main goal to preserve, communicate and further develop the cultural heritage of West Norway. The academy focuses on preserving the experiential knowledge related to traditional craft and building techniques. Through various educational opportunities, including continuing and further education as well as shorter courses, VKA gives participants the opportunity to learn and develop skills in these areas.
In addition to educational initiatives, the West Norwegian Academy of Culture functions as a regional center for culture-based business development. The center emphasizes action-based knowledge, which means that learning and development takes place in close collaboration with local actors and traditions.
