Spjelkavik Fire Station in Ålesund is an important player in fire prevention and rescue. The station's main task is to protect life, health and the environment through various measures. This includes, among other things, fire safety measures specifically aimed at student housing, as well as the distribution of information brochures dealing with fire risk in private housing.
The fire station is also engaged in the preservation of heritage-worthy dense wooden buildings, which underlines their focus on community safety and cultural preservation. In addition to emergency work, they organize an open day during the Fire Service, where the public can learn more about fire safety and the station's work. To maintain a high standard of emergency preparedness, they employ fire constables and rescue divers for their emergency department.
