The Bjerknes Centre for Climate Research is a research institution that aims to increase the understanding of climate and climate change. The centre focuses on research that deals with climate in the past, present and future, and uses both theoretical and observational approaches. A central part of the research is climate modelling, which is essential for predicting future climate scenarios.
In addition to its research activities, the Bjerknes Centre organises seminars and lectures that address various climate-related topics. The centre emphasises collaboration between different research environments, which contributes to an interdisciplinary approach to climate research. An important part of the work is to investigate the 'usability gap' within climate services, which concerns how research results can be applied in practice to address climate challenges.
