Gigante Havbruk AS was established in 1988 by Kjell Lorentsen and has its operations in Bodø and Gildeskål municipalities. The company produces approximately 10,000 tonnes of salmon annually and is one of the largest owners in the Salten Aqua group. Gigante Havbruk AS is a family company with ownership in the entire value chain within salmon farming.
The company conducts significant research and development through the Gildeskål Research Station (GIFAS) and has initiated several development projects within exposed aquaculture. One of the prominent projects is the development project Offshoremerd, which is led by Gigante Offshore. In addition, the company collaborates with central knowledge environments and supplier companies to promote innovation and sustainability in the aquaculture industry.
