Drammen Red Cross is a voluntary organization that plays an important role in the local community. Volunteers contribute to the operation and implementation of various activities, which is essential for the organization's activities. One of the central offerings is the Children's Red Cross (BARK), which is aimed at children aged 6-13. Participation in BARK groups is free of charge, but requires binding registration. BARK activities take place on specific days in even and odd-numbered weeks.
To support volunteers, Drammen Red Cross offers three-hour introductory courses free of charge. These courses give new volunteers an introduction to the organization's work and values. In addition, there is a separate section on BARK in the volunteer induction courses, which helps to strengthen the competence and commitment of those participating in the organization's activities.
