The National Mapping Authority has national responsibility for geographical information in Norway. The institution runs the national property register and is responsible for the registration of real estate and shares in housing associations. This implies an important role in the management of property rights and securing the property's legal status.
In addition to its core tasks, the National Mapping Authority offers various events and courses, including workshops on access points. They actively participate in GIS networks for municipalities, which contributes to better cooperation and sharing of geographical information. The institution is also involved in the development of a new knowledge base for climate in Norway, as well as organizing a professional day on thematic data in spatial planning. This work supports both the public and private sector in the planning and management of areas.
