NTNU - Faculty of Information Technology, Mathematics and Electrical Engineering is an academic department that offers doctoral educations that are standardized to three years of full-time studies, where students receive a salary. It is also possible to extend the study period by a fourth year, which includes compulsory work. The application process for the doctoral program is similar to an ordinary job, and requires a more comprehensive application than is usual for master's programs.
The department is open to applicants who are in their final year of their master's program, but there are requirements for grades. NTNU focuses on developing independent researchers who can operate at a high international level. Students have the opportunity to become part of a larger international research environment, which can contribute to professional development and cooperation across borders.
