The foster care service in Bergen is part of Bufetat, region Vest. The service's main task is to recruit, approve and follow up foster homes in Bergen and the surrounding area. This includes providing support and guidance to foster parents, as well as ensuring that children placed in foster homes receive a safe and stable environment.
The service works to safeguard the best interests of children and collaborates closely with municipalities, child welfare and other relevant agencies. The foster care service also offers courses and training for foster parents, so that they can be best equipped to meet the challenges that may arise in the foster home. Through their work, they contribute to creating a safe environment for children who need temporary care.
