Hedmark Red Cross has its headquarters in Hamar and functions as a joint district office for the Red Cross in the Inland Region. The organization assists local associations and relief corps with both administrative and practical tasks, which contributes to a more efficient operation of volunteer activities in the region.
An important part of Hedmark Red Cross's work is a focus on training and skills development for volunteers. The organization aims for a minimum of 1% of the inhabitants of the Inland Region to be engaged as volunteers. In addition, they arrange Red Cross Weekend, a large gathering for members, which provides an opportunity for networking and exchange of experiences. Through its work, Hedmark Red Cross seeks to prevent and alleviate human suffering in the local community.
