The Norwegian Sea Rescue Corps' Harstad branch is part of a national organization that aims to prevent drowning and save lives in the water. With 58 rescue boats available for response, they are well equipped to handle emergencies at sea. In 2024, they helped save 30 people from drowning, and their rescuers are often the first on the scene of accidents.
The organization has a vision that "No one should drown" and relies on the support of members and businesses to be able to carry out their work effectively. In addition to rescue services, they offer opportunities for volunteer work both on land and at sea, which gives the local community a chance to contribute to safety on the water. For critical situations, they have an emergency number available for assistance.
