Centralbanken is an art gallery in Oslo that specializes in traditional poetic forms. The gallery focuses on structures such as alexandrines and octosyllabic lines, eschewing free verse form in favor of fixed forms, rhymes and numbers. This approach to poetry is combined with metrical prose, giving a new expression within the art form.
In addition to the literary component, the Central Bank integrates visual and auditory elements in its presentations. This creates a holistic experience for visitors, where the rhythm and structure of poetry is explored in a new way. The gallery draws inspiration from earlier poets such as Catulle Mendès and Paul Fort, and emphasizes a slow approach to reading, which is described as a journey of discovery for the participant.
