The common house in Solvang colony gardens, ward 1, is a meeting place for colonists who want to cultivate community and self-reliance. Apple pressing from own fruit is offered here, where colonists can participate in grinding, pressing and pasteurizing apples. There are also opportunities for training in the use of press equipment, which contributes to increased competence among members.
The Activities Committee and Gjestebudet are responsible for various events that promote social cohesion and commitment. To ensure good conditions during activities, three pop-up tents are available. In addition to the practical activities, a "Colonist of the Year" is appointed annually, which honors the efforts of one of the members. The history and commitment of the Women's Team in the colony garden also contributes to the social environment and community in the area.
