In addition to grant management, the Norwegian Directorate of Culture acts as a driving force for new art and culture projects. The agency is involved in development work that aims to strengthen cultural life in the country. The Directorate of Culture also provides advice to the state on issues related to culture, and contributes to shaping cultural policy in Norway.
