The Dance and Theater Center is a national competence center for professional performing arts, located in Oslo. The centre's aim is to promote Norwegian performing arts both nationally and internationally, and offers a range of services such as grants and management practices. Through collaboration with Italy, they organize residency programmes, which give artists the opportunity to develop their projects in an international environment.
The center also develops platforms for the performing arts, both at national and international level, and has a national performing arts archive known as Sceneweb. The Dance and Theater Center is supported by the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and focuses on knowledge sharing and networking within the performing arts field. This helps to strengthen the performing arts environment in Norway and facilitate collaboration between different actors.
