The Oslo and Akershus Heritage Association works to preserve Norway's built heritage with a focus on cultural monuments and historic buildings. The association engages local communities in conservation work and offers opportunities for voluntary participation. Membership gives members influence on conservation work and access to information and resources related to building heritage.
In addition to conservation work, the association organizes activities and projects that aim to raise awareness of cultural heritage. They work with local authorities and other organizations to promote conservation interests. Fortidsminneforeningen also provides contact with skilled craftsmen who can contribute to the restoration and maintenance of culturally historic buildings.
