Locksmiths in Oslo: 10 firms with a shop, workshop and call-out service
This page lists locksmiths in Oslo: shops with a workshop where you can drop in, and locksmiths who come out to you. It helps you choose by what you need, whether an extra key, a new lock or help when you are locked out: each card has an address, a phone number and a short description. For the locksmiths who come out to you, the address in the card is not necessarily a shop.

The map shows only the locksmiths on this page: tap a point to open the card with the address and description. For the firms that come out to you, the point shows the firm's address, not a shop.

Shop or call-out: how the groups are divided
- The shops with a workshop are on Nedre Slottsgate in the centre, on Grefsenveien, on Brobekkveien and at Kalbakken.
- The locksmiths in the group for the centre and inner city come out from Oscars gate, Torggata, Nedre Vaskegang and Helgesens gate.
- In the East and south group the firms have addresses on Strømsveien and Feltspatveien.
- For those who come out to you, the address in the card is not necessarily a shop.
The main difference is between locksmiths you can go to and locksmiths who come to you. The shops with a workshop suit you when there is no rush: you need an extra key, want to look at locks or want to order fitting. They are on Nedre Slottsgate in the centre, on Grefsenveien, on Brobekkveien and at Kalbakken, and are open on weekdays.
The locksmiths in the other two groups come out to you. The group for the centre and inner city has addresses on Oscars gate, Torggata, Nedre Vaskegang and Helgesens gate, while the East and south group is based on Strømsveien and Feltspatveien. The address tells you where the firm is based, not where it works: according to the card descriptions, several of them also take jobs outside the city, among other places in Bærum, Follo and Romerike.
This page is a selection, not a complete list. In the directory, the locksmiths are listed in the category Workshops & Manufacturing, together with other workshops: there you can search by name or address. More about the city is on the Oslo page, and more practical guides are collected under Services & practical.
Locked out: what to ask on the phone
- Call the number in the card: several of the locksmiths state a duty phone around the clock.
- Ask for the price of the call-out and the work before the locksmith sets off.
- Ask when the locksmith can be with you: it depends on the jobs already in progress.
- Have ID ready: you must be able to show that you have the right to enter.
Several of the locksmiths on this page state a round-the-clock duty service or duty phone on their own websites (read on 5 October 2026). That means someone answers and can come out, not that a shop is open at night. Some of the shops with a workshop also have a duty phone outside opening hours: it is mentioned in the card description.
Agree the price before the job starts. The cards do not show prices, so ask what the call-out costs at the time you are calling, what comes on top, and how you can pay. One of the locksmiths states that you pay after the job is done, by card, Vipps or cash.
Nobody can promise the waiting time in advance. One of the locksmiths itself writes that it depends on the jobs already in progress, so ask for an estimate when you call. Expect also to have to show that you have the right to enter: one of them states that this must be documented before the door is opened.
In the shop: opening hours, keys and new locks
- The shops with a workshop open at 08:00 on weekdays and close at 16:00 or 17:00.
- On Fridays some of them close an hour earlier.
- None of the shops lists opening hours on Saturday or Sunday.
- Bring the key you want copied.
The shops with a workshop keep ordinary working hours. According to their own websites (read on 5 October 2026), they open at 08:00 on weekdays and close at 16:00 or 17:00, and on Fridays some close an hour earlier. None of them lists opening hours on Saturday or Sunday.
This is where you get what is not urgent: key copying, new locks and fittings, and at several of them also access control, intercoms, door automation and safes. If the key belongs to a lock system in a housing cooperative or a jointly owned building, ask the board or the shop what is required to order an extra one.
If you are changing a lock after a break-in or a move, the insurance is worth a phone call: ask your insurance company what requirements it sets for the lock. The word FG-godkjent (FG-approved) appears in the description in some of the cards.
In the cards, several of the locksmiths are shown as open around the clock, even where it is the duty phone and not the shop that is open day and night. So look at the firm's website to see which hours apply to visits.
