Østbyen Frivilligsentral in Trondheim functions as an important meeting place for residents in the local area. The center offers a number of voluntary activities that are adapted to local needs, and acts as a bridge builder between individuals, volunteers, organizations and public bodies. This helps to strengthen the community and promote cooperation across different groups.
Among the activities on offer are Thursday get-togethers with social gatherings and simple meals, as well as intergenerational meetings where young people with a refugee background can get homework help. Østbyen Frivilligsentral also has initiatives such as Natteravn, which supports young people in Midtbyen Trondheim, and a language cafe for women. In addition, provision is made for social meeting places for elderly home residents, which helps to reduce loneliness and promote inclusion.
