Vortex NTNU is a non-profit student organization at NTNU, established in 2015, which focuses on the development of autonomous marine robots. The organization is run entirely by students and has over 50 active members, including many exchange students. Vortex NTNU has specialized in making both underwater vehicles (ROVs) and autonomous vessels at sea (AUVs and ASVs).
The organization participates in various competitions, such as RoboSub and TAC Challenge, and aims to give students practical experience with relevant engineering challenges. Vortex NTNU promotes collaboration and innovation within maritime technology, and offers members opportunities for skills development and management experience through participation in projects. In 2025, they celebrate ten years of student development and commitment in the field.
