Can other electric cars use Tesla Superchargers in Norway?
Access, the Tesla app, payment and membership for other electric cars.
Short answer
Yes, most Tesla Supercharger stations in Norway are now open to other electric cars with a CCS charging port, and you start and pay for charging in the Tesla app. A few sites are still for Tesla cars only, so check the map in the app first. Charging is paid per session, and a Supercharging membership gives a lower price.
Why
- NAF writes that only Tesla owners could use Superchargers before, but that most of Tesla's charging stations are now open to other car brands.
- Tesla says Supercharging for other electric cars is only available for CCS-compatible cars, and at chargers with two cables only the CCS cable can be used.
- Tesla's Norwegian support page lists a reserved amount of NOK 100 when you pay in the Tesla app and NOK 200 with guest checkout, and the hold can take several days to be released.
Details
To charge, download the Tesla app, create a Tesla account and add a payment card. Find the station on the map, choose the stall number shown on the charger, plug in and tap Start charging. Prices for each site are shown in the app, and the same idle fee per minute applies to all cars that stay plugged in after charging has finished.
Tip
Create the account and add a card before your trip, and check in the app that the station you plan to use is open to other electric cars.
What may differ
Cars without a CCS charging port cannot use Superchargers. Some sites also accept contactless card or mobile payment directly at the charger.
