Where can you get household appliances repaired in Oslo?
Manufacturer service, Elkjøp's workshop and your complaint rights.
Short answer
In Oslo you can book a repair of a washing machine or other large appliance from the manufacturer, for example Electrolux, which charges a fixed NOK 3,250 including VAT. That price covers labour, original parts and travel. Bosch repairs large appliances in your home, and Elkjøp repairs products even if they were bought elsewhere.
Why
- Electrolux offers its fixed-price repair in Oslo, Bergen and Trondheim for appliances such as dishwashers, fridges, freezers, ovens, hobs, washing machines and tumble dryers, but not for cosmetic faults or cracked hobs.
- Bosch says you book service and repair of large appliances in its booking system, and that it repairs large appliances in your home and small ones at its workshop.
- Elkjøp says it repairs products without a warranty or receipt, also products not bought from Elkjøp, and that service in your home is possible for larger products.
Details
Electrolux charges nothing for a repair under warranty and gives a two-year complaint period on repairs it has done. If the appliance is fairly new, Forbrukerrådet says you must first take the fault up with the seller: the complaint period is two years, and five years for goods meant to last much longer. Norsk Ombruk, which Oslo municipality lists as a reuse partner, repairs used appliances and sells them with a warranty.
Tip
Find the receipt and check the purchase date before you book a paid repair: when the fault is the seller's responsibility, the seller must offer a repair or a new item.
What may differ
Electrolux's fixed price applies only in Oslo, Bergen and Trondheim, and other brands have their own service arrangements and prices.
