Halden Red Cross is a voluntary organization that has been an important resource in the local community for 100 years. The organization is engaged in care activities as well as rescue and emergency response work, and works to prevent and alleviate human suffering both locally, nationally and internationally. Volunteers contribute their time and expertise, and their efforts are crucial to maintaining the various activities.
The Red Cross House functions as a social meeting place and training facility, where free training is offered to volunteers. Membership in the organization gives the right to vote at annual meetings, which gives members influence on the work carried out. Halden Red Cross is thus a platform for commitment and participation in humanitarian work, and plays a central role in mobilizing the local community for joint efforts.
