Best hotels in Oslo (2026): Michelin Guide, Oslo S and affordable picks

Who this guide is for

This guide is for you if you are staying in a hotel in Oslo and want to choose quickly: a hotel for a special occasion, a practical hotel by the railway station or an affordable room in the centre. The hotels are split into three groups by what they suit, not by score.

Address, contact details and website are in each hotel's card. Prices change from day to day, so check them with the hotel or a booking service.

Last checked 30 September 2026 by the NorgeGuide editorial teamWe checked the hotels against their own websites and the Michelin Guide's hotel pages the same day. Hotels can change name, owner or chain. If something has changed, write in the comments at the bottom of the page and we will swap the card.

Questions and answers about hotels in Oslo

Which hotels in Oslo have a Michelin Key?

Three hotels in Oslo have one Michelin Key each (the Michelin Guide's hotel pages, read 30 September 2026). All three are in the first group above, together with a hotel that is in the guide without a key.

What is a Michelin Key?

The Key is the Michelin Guide's distinction for hotels, as stars are for restaurants. A hotel can get one, two or three keys. According to the guide, one key means a very special stay.

Where should I stay in Oslo on a first visit?

The centre between Oslo Central Station and Karl Johans gate is practical for most people: close to trains, trams, the metro and the main sights. Bjørvika and Tjuvholmen are by the water and have many restaurants.

How long does it take from Oslo Airport to the city centre?

The Airport Express Train runs from Oslo Airport to Oslo Central Station, and the trip takes about 20 minutes. If you stay by the station, you reach your hotel a few minutes after leaving the train.

Should I stay near the airport?

Only if you have a very early flight, or land late and travel on the next morning. Otherwise a hotel by Oslo Central Station is a good compromise: close to the Airport Express and to the city.

Is breakfast included?

It varies. Many hotels in Norway include breakfast, while the simplest ones often charge extra for it. It is stated in your booking.

When should I book a hotel in Oslo?

Book early if you are coming to Oslo during big concerts, sports events or trade fairs. Hotels fill up quickly and prices rise.

How do you choose the hotels?

We include hotels that have a card in our catalogue, are open when we check and belong to one of the three groups. The first group is based on the Michelin Guide, the second on the distance to Oslo Central Station and the third on the hotels describing themselves as affordable. No one pays to be listed.

How we make this guide

We split the hotels into three groups: hotels in the Michelin Guide, hotels right by Oslo Central Station and simple, affordable hotels in the centre. Each group has four hotels. We only include hotels that have a card in our catalogue and are open when we check.

No hotel pays to be listed, and we do not give our own scores. Address, contact details and website are in each hotel's card.
