Shoe shops in Stavanger: 7 shops on Søregata, by the cathedral and in the districts

Shoe shops in Stavanger are found in two kinds of places: in the central streets, where three of the shops on this page have an address on Søregata and the fourth is on Domkirkeplassen, and out in the districts, in shopping centres at Tasta and Hillevåg and in the retail area at Forus. Go to the centre when you want to walk from door to door and compare, and to the districts when you need a shop that stays open later in the evening. The cards show the address and a short description, and the phone number is on the card.

Søregata, Domkirkeplassen or a district: where the shops are

  • Søregata: three shoe shops at numbers 14, 21 and 29, less than 50 metres apart.
  • Domkirkeplassen: the fourth shop in the centre, around 100 metres away.
  • Tasta and Hillevåg: between two and a half and three kilometres from the centre as the crow flies.
  • Forus: the shop on Lagerveien is more than eight kilometres south of the centre.

In the centre of Stavanger you do not have to settle on one shop before you go. Three of the four are on Søregata, and from the first to the last it is less than 50 metres. The fourth is on Domkirkeplassen, the square by the cathedral, around a hundred metres from the others. If one shop does not have your size, the next door is close by.

The three on Søregata are different. The shop at number 29 belongs to a chain and stocks shoes for women, men and children; the chain's shop page gives both Søregata 29 and Nygata 18 as its address. At number 14 there is a shop which, according to its card, focuses on sneakers and fashion shoes. The shop at number 21 has no website of its own, only a Facebook page, so there you see the selection only when you walk in.

On Domkirkeplassen is the Stavanger branch of a shoe retailer from Mandal with roots going back to 1937, which otherwise has shops in Kristiansand and Mandal. According to the card, the shop has a selection for the whole family.

Out in the districts the shoe shops are where people do the rest of their shopping. One is in the shopping centre at Tasta, north-west of the centre, one in the shopping centre on Gartnerveien at Hillevåg, and one on Lagerveien at Forus, at the southern end of the municipality. The distances are measured in a straight line between the map points on the cards. Several chains have more than one branch in the city: all of them are listed in the category Shoe stores in the directory, and guides to other kinds of shops are under Shopping.

Opening hours: the centre until 19:00, the districts until 20:00

  • The centre: three shops close at 19:00 on weekdays, the fourth at 17:00.
  • The districts: open until 20:00 on weekdays and until 18:00 on Saturdays.
  • Saturday in the centre: closing time 16:00 or 17:00.
  • Sunday: all seven are closed.

The closing time follows the address. The chain shop at Søregata 29 and the shop on Domkirkeplassen both state 10:00 to 19:00 Monday to Friday and 10:00 to 17:00 on Saturday on their own websites (read on 7 October 2026). The card of the shop at Søregata 14 shows the same closing time on weekdays and 16:00 on Saturdays.

One shop in the centre has a shorter day: according to its card, the shop at Søregata 21 closes at 17:00 on weekdays and at 16:00 on Saturdays. So if you plan to visit several shops after work, start there.

In the districts you get an extra hour in the evening. The shopping centre at Tasta states 10:00 to 20:00 on weekdays and 10:00 to 18:00 on Saturdays for its shoe shop, and the cards of the shops at Hillevåg and Forus show the same hours.

On Sundays all seven are closed. Around public holidays special hours apply: the chain shop at Søregata 29 states 10:00 to 13:00 on Christmas Eve, until 15:00 on New Year's Eve and until 16:00 on Easter Saturday.

Size, click and collect, and returns

  • Foot scanner: the chain shop at Søregata 29 lists it among its services.
  • Click and collect: five of the seven shops offer it.
  • Collection: ready within 30 minutes or an hour, depending on the chain.
  • Returns: each chain has its own rules.

Two of the shops in the centre say something themselves about help with the fit. The chain shop at Søregata 29 has a foot scanner, and according to the card it is used to fit insoles. The shop on Domkirkeplassen writes on its website that the staff help with fitting children's shoes and comfort shoes.

With click and collect you order the pair in the online shop and collect it in the shop you have chosen. The chain shop at Søregata 29 states that the order is ready within an hour. The cards of the shops at Søregata 14, Hillevåg and Forus mention collection within 30 minutes, and the card of the shop at Tasta also mentions click and collect. Make sure the right branch is on the order.

The return rules are not the same. The chain shop at Søregata 29 states a 30-day right of return. The cards of the shops at Søregata 14, Hillevåg and Forus mention 30 days' open purchase, and two of them free returns in the shop. According to its card, the shop at Tasta accepts returns in all the chain's shops, and the shop on Domkirkeplassen states that online purchases can be exchanged or returned in the shops.
