Sushi in Stavanger: 6 places in the centre, at Eiganes and out in the districts

Sushi in Stavanger is served both in the city core and out in the districts: this page puts a buffet restaurant and a sushi and Thai restaurant in the centre next to takeaway kitchens at Eiganes, Tasta, Madla and Buøy. Use it to find the place that is closest to you and open when you want to eat: the cards show the address and a short description, and the phone number is inside the card.

Cards checked on 6 October 2026. Editor: Alex. Found a mistake? Leave a comment at the bottom of the page.

Centre or district: where the sushi places are

  • Two places with tables are in the centre, about 400 metres apart.
  • Eiganes has a small outlet in Holbergs gate, a kilometre and a half from the city core.
  • Tasta, Madla and Buøy each have a sushi kitchen for pick-up.
  • Buøy is one of the city islands: a bridge leads there from the centre.

Stavanger has a small city core, and both places where you can sit down and take your time are in it. In Lars Hertervigs gate there is a buffet restaurant that also has an à la carte menu, and in Bakkegata a restaurant that makes both sushi and Thai dishes such as pad thai and curry. The two are about 400 metres apart in a straight line.

The rest are where people live. Measured in a straight line from the centre, it is about a kilometre and a half both to Holbergs gate at Eiganes and to Randabergveien at Tasta, two kilometres across the sound to Buøy and around four kilometres to Madlaveien. The distances are calculated from the map points on the cards, so the road is longer, especially to Buøy.

The kitchens in the districts are set up first of all for pick-up. The outlet at Eiganes has one table and a bar counter according to the chain's website: enough for a quick bite for one or two, but not for a group. The kitchen at Tasta says you can also eat there. For Madla and Buøy we have only been able to confirm takeaway.

This page shows a selection. The category Asian restaurants and sushi bars in the directory has more than thirty cards, among them further branches of the same sushi chains and Thai, Chinese and Korean kitchens. Guides to other kinds of places to eat are under Top places to eat in Norway.

The clock decides: lunch in the centre, dinner from your district

  • Lunch: the buffet restaurant in the centre opens at 10.00 Monday to Saturday.
  • The kitchens at Eiganes and Tasta do not open until between 13.00 and 15.00.
  • Pick-up and delivery have their own hours, shorter than the opening hours.
  • One place is closed on Mondays, another on Tuesdays.

Sushi in the middle of the day is in practice found in the centre. The buffet restaurant in Lars Hertervigs gate gives its opening hours as 10.00 to 22.00 Monday to Saturday and 12.00 to 20.00 on Sunday (the place's website, read on 6 October 2026). The buffet itself closes half an hour before the restaurant, so come in good time if that is what you are after.

Out in the districts the day starts later. The kitchen at Eiganes opens at 13.00 on Friday and Saturday and at 14.00 on Sunday and Monday, and stays open until 21.00. At Tasta they open at 15.00 Monday to Thursday and at 14.00 Friday to Sunday, and keep going until 22.00. The hours are on the places' websites and applied on 6 October 2026.

Opening hours, pick-up hours and delivery are three different things. The buffet restaurant takes takeaway orders from 11.00 to 21.30 Monday to Saturday, that is, an hour after the doors open and half an hour before they close. At Eiganes delivery starts two hours after the kitchen opens. If you want the food early in the afternoon, picking it up yourself is quickest.

There are fixed closing days as well. According to the cards, one place is closed on Mondays and another on Tuesdays, and a small kitchen may take a few days off: when we checked, a notice saying closed until 6 October was at the top of the ordering page of one of the places. So look at the ordering page before you get in the car.

Ordering: the right branch, the phone and food for the whole party

  • Chains: choose the branch in your district when you order online, not the one in Sandnes.
  • The restaurant in Bakkegata has no website of its own: call the number on the card.
  • The ordering page says when the food is ready: one place estimates around 20 minutes.

Several of the places belong to chains with kitchens in more than one district and town. The online order therefore first asks which branch you want to pick up from, and the neighbouring town of Sandnes may be in the same list. See that the right district is at the top of the basket before you pay. When we opened the ordering page of one of the chains on 6 October 2026, it showed only branches in Sandnes: if you cannot find your kitchen in the list, call the number on the card.

Not all of them have an online shop. The restaurant in Bakkegata has a Facebook page but no website of its own, so there you order food and a table by phone. The place at Buøy has, according to the card, an app where you follow the order, and its ordering page estimates around 20 minutes until the food is ready. The kitchen at Tasta has its own online shop for takeaway.

If there are several of you, or someone in the party does not eat raw fish, three places give you the most to choose from. The buffet in the centre has, according to the card, spring rolls and chicken skewers next to the sushi, and separate prices for children. The restaurant in Bakkegata has Thai dishes, and at Buøy the menu lists poke, Thai dishes and a children's menu. The kitchen at Eiganes also makes hot dishes such as fried noodles.

Allergens are listed with every dish on the ordering page of the place at Buøy, and some dishes come in a gluten-free version. If you have a serious allergy, say so when you order: the labelling does not tell you what else is made in the same kitchen.
