Short answer

Yes, you can stay overnight in several Norwegian lighthouses, including Lindesnes in the far south, Kråkenes in Western Norway and Litløy in Vesterålen. At Lindesnes you can stay all year in the keeper's house just below the tower, and Molja lighthouse in central Ålesund has been turned into a hotel room.

Why

  1. Visit Norway lists overnight stays at Lindesnes, Kråkenes, Lofoten Fyr on Værøy, Høyevarde Fyrhotell on Karmøy, Molja in Ålesund and Litløy in Vesterålen.
  2. Lindesnes lighthouse stands at the southernmost point of mainland Norway, and its first light was lit in 1656.
  3. According to Visit Norway, the Norwegian Coastal Administration (Kystverket) still owns most of the lighthouses.

Details

The accommodation at Lindesnes has room for six people and can be booked all year. At Kråkenes you can sleep in the Storm Suite in the lighthouse building, and at Litløy the hosts arrange the transport out to the island. Visit Norway notes that some lighthouses also take overnight guests in winter.

Tip

Book as early as possible, as Visit Norway advises for lighthouse holidays, and check how you get there, since some lighthouses stand on islands.

What may differ

Lighthouse stays range from simple keeper's houses to hotel rooms: Visit Norway places Lofoten Fyr on Værøy at the luxurious end of the scale.
