Which EV charging app is best in Norway?
Operator apps, apps for several operators and card payment.
Short answer
No app is officially the best, but the motoring organisation NAF suggests operator apps such as Circle K Charge, Mer or Kople, or Elton, which covers several operators. Many operators also take a bank card through a QR code, so you can charge without a profile. Starting a charge by SMS can cost more than paying in the app.
Why
- NAF advises using apps that let you pay for charging with several different operators, and gives Elton as an example.
- According to NAF's guide, last updated in September 2026, more and more charging operators accept payment with a physical bank card.
- Since 1 July 2023 the government has required card payment on new charging points of 50 kW or more that operators order.
Details
In an app you create a profile, add a payment method and then start and stop charging from your phone. NAF writes that the charging industry is gradually moving away from RFID charging tags. Visit Norway recommends registering with the major charging providers before the trip, usually through an app.
Tip
Install two or three apps and add a payment card before the trip, so you can still charge if one operator's charger is busy or out of order.
